Grand opening of Fort 8

Fort 8 operating soon!

On Saturday and Sunday, 13th and 14th of September, we invite you to an official opening of Fort 8. Fort 8 is where Ursynów, Mokotów and Wilanów meet, we offer you space with restaurants, shops and design studios.  We want it to be a place which brings together people who appreciate good taste, outstanding quality, excellent services, people looking for inspirational solutions, designer interiors and friendly, welcoming atmosphere to meet far from crowded shopping centres.

Fort 8 has been established in the historical area of Fort VIII Służew. Its revitalisation, being supervised by the heritage conservationist, started in 2015. It underwent general renovation, which involved restoration of the original structure of the building, with its original furnishings; at the same time adapting the interior as modern commercial space. The area of 1800 m2 accommodates restaurants, shops, cafes, design studios and cosy office space. After 4 years of intensive work the investor – Turret Development Group – presents you with a place where great care for historical details meets modern functional standards.

We invite you to take part in the workshops organized by members of our Fort 8 family of friends. We want you to meet all those who brought this place back to life. We wish to celebrate with music and inspiration, with slow dining and picnic, without everyday rush and stress. And most of all, we wish to celebrate together. – says the representative for the investor, Maria Mikołajczak.

The event starts on Fri day at 17:00 and will last for two days. Art connoisseurs will surely be interested in the viewing of the sculptures by Piotr Krupczak and Bogusław Tober, and the opening of the photography exhibition ‘Fort 8 before and after the revitalisation’.
At 20:00 on the stage nearby we are going to host a comedy improvisation show „Wideoteka nocnego człowieka” by Klub Komediowy.

On Saturday 14 September between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. there are plenty of attractions and amusements for our guests, prepared with collaboration of Fort 8 tenants. In the workshop tent Darek Wardziak, a famous TV programme carpenter, with special guests Dorota Szelągowska and Marika Jóźwiak, will present ideas for simple yet creative wooden toys for children. Pracownia Tkanin Beata Schwartz will demonstrate some of decorating and dressing craft.

You can take part in cupcake baking with Fort Bistro, pasta making with Dziurka od Klucza, you can learn how to properly grill a steak with Beefshop and Grill or how to prepare a proper sushi roll with Garo Sushi. Winehouse Wine Corner invites you for a talk about their favourite grape varieties and stocks. Deseo confectioner organises a presentation of cake decorating, Fort Whisky – single malt whisky tasting, and Lavazza Training Center – a workshop for all the domestic baristas. The restaurants are preparing a special brief summary of their flag meals. Dorota Szelągowska’s studio invites you to come and learn some useful decorating tips from interior design professionals.

Throughout the day all children can participate in arts and crafts and sports workshops, and Beauty salon Petite Amie Nail&Spa will invite the young ones to a Mini Spa. Hair Salon Cut It will be decorating hair with colourful braids and will share some of their tips and tricks. At 16:00 we invite everyone to a very special show „Pokochaj psiaka warszawiaka”, in which Warsaw’s dog owners will proudly present their pets’ canine beauty and personality.

During these two special days all the shops in Fort 8 will be open. Also the ones which are not yet officially operating (but will be, during the next few weeks). A tour around the changed Fort 8 and exploring the area is in itself an attractive opportunity for a day out.

In the evening, after a long busy day filled with a lot of inspiring activities, we invite you to the best dance in town. On the stage will be performing Prince of Dreistadt and the Girls from Warschau Stadt Palast with their gig „Dancing retro nouveaux”. It’s a retro dance where different music styles cross paths, Frank Sinatra meets Moloko, and Elvis Presley – Beata Kozidrak – states Maria Mikołajczak. Our host for that night will be a music journalist Maciej Ulewicz, this time not from the radio studio, but on our stage, together with Ania Gigiel, Maja Kisielińska and Agata Warda, in an unusual DJ combo.

For the opening of Fort 8 admission is free.
